I don"t think the exhaust pipe has any thing to do with the runing. You still have problems with carb. Make sure float level is ok, did you take the nozzle out in the center of carb. Posable that you might have a leaking manifold gkt. On the carb. the drain in the bottom take it out put a barb fitting and a length of clear tubing about 8 in. tie the end up then run your tractor the fuel level should be 3/4 in down from the top of the bowel.
