Without knowing what you're gonna be doing for tillage and other purposes, I'd say go with a 60-85 HP tractor. If you could get a Massey 285, they are a great tractor and don't need much maintnance(repairs) Oliver's are great too, but a little older. Something like a 1600-1650-1655 or a 1750/55 would probably fit nicely. We have a 1600 gasser, 1855 deisel, and a Massey 165 gas and 285 deisel. I'm sure in it's day the 165 was designed for 100 acres+, but in my mind if I can get the day's work done faster, the more time I have for other things. That's why we have the 1855 that puts out 105 HP on the dyno, to run 65 tillable acres. Sure it's more than enough, but I don't want to spend 3 weeks pulling a 1 row chopper just to get the corn in. I've got a job to work as well, so i don't have a ton of time. It's also why we've got a 14' hydro-swing haybine to cut 30 +/- acres of hay each year. Only had it for a little more than a year, but put it behind the 285 (or 1855, depends on the mood, and fuel in the tank) and I'll never go back to cutting it with our 9'er that we keep for cutting swamp grass to chop for bedding. Anything that's a deisel, and has 60-85 Hp, would be on my list, but I'm also partial to Massey & Oliver. Someday I may get me a 16 series deisel to go with the 1600 gas. Basically the same tractor over the years, just some minor improvements made over the years like HP. My 1600 has been overhauled with 1655 pistons & sleeves... Donovan from Wisconsin

Product Review: Black Tire Paint - by Staff. I have been fortunate in that two of my tractors have had rear tires that were in great shape when I bought the tractor. My model "H" even had the old style fronts with plenty of tread. My "L" fronts were mismatched Sears Guardsman snow tires, which I promptly tossed. Well, although these tires were in good shape as far as tread was concerned, they looked real sad. All were flat, but new tubes fixed that. In addition to years and years of scuffing and fading, they had paint splattered on
