We have them in SE MN to. They really hurt the plants in a dry year. Mostly 2nd and 3rd cuttings. If the plants have yellow on the leaf edges its to late to spray, damage is done. I should have sprayed my feilds. I figure they took 4 to 6 inches of height off the plants. As for treatment treshold you take a sweep net and make I think 10 sweeps thru the hay. If you catch more than 20 in the net its time to spray.
