Well to start with you need to either go 100% 6 volt or 100% 12 volt. You can not use 12 volt lights with a 6 volt battery or a 6 volt genny and have a 12 volt battery you have to have every thing one or the other not a little of both because a little of both will not work. Easies way is to use a Delco 10si alternator which is 3 wire works better then a 1 wire type and also is a lot cheaper. A 3 wire can be had for less then $40 but a 1 wire is around $70. 3 wire is also less likey to give you battery drain problems and high RPM start up problems
