It would all depend on where the 30 acres are.

If you can sell it for $3 million, then do so, invest the money and live off the interest.

If you can grow garlic and have a good market for it, then do so and I think you'll have a good income.

You could plant a big garden and can and freeze your produce, raise a few chickens, hogs and fat cattle. You'll eat pretty well but you won`t have much of any money to spend.

You could maybe put it in CRP and pocket around $2 thousand dollars before taxes

Or you could grow 30 acres of corn, wheat, beans or hay, but you are just as apt to lose money as you are to make money.
