Well, in my opinion it depends on what liabilities(debt) you have to pay on. What your life style is like now , and what your willing to do with out. If your taxes are low copared to what alot f us pay, it helps. I just made $700 on just over a 1/2 acre of sweet corn in the last 2 weeks. For my wife that is a trip to the mall, for me, its 2 months groceries, for some people that will pay all there bills for 3 months. I cant see you maiking a living by todays standards on 30 acres, but if you conserve and do with out like the guys in there 70's or older did, you could if you get creative. I only own 40 acres , and we do quite well, BUT we have 15,000 chicken breeder barn on it. Do a search for "making $50,000 on 5 acres" or something like that. There info out there.
