Mark-- I've used both kinds behind my '51 Ford 8N: 72" side discharge and 72" rear discharge. I currently have a Woods RD7200 rear discharge and it beats all the competition. It really does take less HP and spreads the clippings out evenly no matter what the height. No more pausing to remember which way you need to go when cutting along a fence row or around a tree...
