Maybe I jinxed our 3rd crop after braggin about the 2nd crop (who could resist? it was a great 2nd crop!?!?!?) but the 3rd crop hardly got any rain when it needed it. Just watching the weather with moderation, and I gotta finish mounting the springs for the crimper rolls again on the haybine. I took the crimper off to cut the oats with, then made a few repairs in between crops. Almost together now... If the forecast looks good enough I'm probably gonna start knocking it down on Wed. Should maybe get 3 1/2-4 loads off the approx. 30-35 acres.... Oh well. Pretty sure we've got enough hay between our own and what we've bought from another guy in small squares and rounds so I'm not too worried, but we're hoping to get a 4th crop yet. The extended 10 day looks like rain starting up next week, which will probably dry up as next week gets closer. Maybe 4th crop will do ok. Time will tell, trouble with 4th is it just takes so long to dry down in the cooler fall months. Atleast with our newer 14' machine we can find the windrows enough to rake them double. Should be able to cut pretty fast too. Donovan from Wisconsin

In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
