According to weather.com we almost got a good 2 inches of rain on Sunday. It was a good slow soaker too, not just in 30 minutes but it was just a drizzle just about all day long. Good enough reason to go to a parish picnic with the fiance and buy some ugly furniture for when I move out in a few months.
At this point I don't care too much about the little bit of scratch that is out there for 3rd crop I cut, we were getting dry and we've got some late season corn that needs it.
We should almost be able to get a little thicker 4th crop too. Dad spread some fertilizer over most of the fields after 2nd, but there was hardly any rain since before I cut 2nd crop so it didn't do much good. Should see some improvement for 4th crop...
Lets see-
Next weekend move the fiance back to her last semester at college and go to a family reunion.
In 2 weeks, have the old Fox 3000 ready for another go at the corn. It's a 4 day weekend for me so we should be able to get quite a bit off.
Then haul manure as I can, cut 4th crop in about 4 weeks and hope it dries down. If not, throw the pick-up back on the 3000 and put it on top of the corn in the silo if there is enough room (hopefully not). Can't forget pumpkin selling season. That'll be starting in about 3 weeks, if not sooner.

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
