I would like to know this mans credentials. I have not heard a large amount of complaints on the overdrive autos in the 24 valves. The only issue I have ever heard with the auto since they came out with the first lock up converters, was that the torque converters would fail in time. I doubt that all of the ones that went bad were from pulling in OD. Common sense takes over if the truck is in a hard pull and your RPMs are way low in OD, why not put it in Drive until you level out? If you were in a manual, you would downshift to the next gear instead of lug it down. If you are going to be pulling a substantial load the majority of the time, I would upgrade to a beefier converter. They make several different ones that can handle a little more abuse. Just my opinion though. I would not be scared of the auto though
