I have one of those combination punch and rivet tools. I split the punch side by not hitting the section rivet perfectly in the middle. Rather than finding a new part, I find its fastest to use an air die grinder with a cutoff wheel to grind away the rivet head, then I use a 5/32" or slightly smaller round punch to push the rivet out.
I keep reading about setting the bar in a vice with the bar on the vice jaw and the section held loosely with the vice jaws, then pounding on the back of the section to shear the rivets. I've not tried that, I think on my mowers that the section doesn't extend past the back of the bar so its hard to get that shearing action with the points of the section down. I don't like the notches the hardened sections can give to the hammer either.
My way works with the bar in the mower which is often faster than taking it out.
