I own a 1943 John Deere "D" model, the type with the wide front axle and fenders. It has been in my family for some years, and when my father died I had a cosmetic restoration done by a guy out of state. The tractor never really ran right because of an electrical problem, and the fact that the flywheel was walking off the shaft. The flywheel was replaced, but now when the tractor runs there is excessive vibration as though the flywheel is unbalanced.
This has really taken the zing out of tractor ownership, and I don't personally have the knowledge to work on the D. I don't really want to sink any more money in it, and will soon lose the shed it stays in.
I guess my question: is this unpleasant vibration the result of replacing the flywheel? If so, I'm really screwed. I am really discouraged and will probably need to sell the tractor, which I had hoped would be simple and dependable enough to keep for the long haul.
Any thoughts or suggestions? If I have to sell the tractor, where is the best place to advertise it?
Thanks in advance from this novice and discouraged old tractor owner.

The main focus of this page is to show how I upgr
