I think JD is following the same strategy as Caterpillar. Cat has only 1 or 2 dealers per state. And they are ruthless in enforcing territory. You cannot go from on dealer to another and get a better price. On the plus side, it allows them to recruit and retain a high caliber of service personnel. Of course this is only my opinion, and this is the internet! :)
