If it were a Firestone or Titan it would have been made in May of 1997. But I am not sure about Goodyear, don't deal with them too much. When new tubes are installed they are supposed to have talc powder dusted over the whole tube. This prevents them from sticking to tire and rim. Some brands of tubes come out of the box already dusted and others don't. Tire guys usually don't take the time to dust them. The rubber of the tubes when there are new is somewhat tacky and then the pressure of the air holding them tight to tire and wheel lets them bond and they can bond tight. Although they will stick tight and the rim may rust under the tube it would be impossible for the rubber to rust.
