I had an 03 Impala and I had trouble with brakes-mostly steering wheel wobble during braking. New front pads and rotors will help. Also you need to bleed them good. I always bleed a full large bottle of NAPA brake fluid thru the system. I bleed each wheel until I get new looking fluid coming out. Brake fluid is real bad about absorbing moisture and moisture(water) does not activate calipers as good as brake fluid thus you have a "spongy pedal". The moisture will also rust the brake lines and calipers. Also be sure to free up the slide mechanism's. If only the inboard pad is contacting the rotor due to a frozen caliper you will have low pedal. Also be sure to use the proper brake lube and put lube on the backs of the pads where they contaact the rotor also as this will eliminate brake squeel. Good luck. PS: E-mail me if you have more questions.
