You know....I wonder, when do we try to forget and move on? There are hurts and sorrows and tragedies occurring almost everyday, somewhere.
'Remember Pearl Harbor' was the catch phrase during the WW2. Perhaps it was 'Remember Bunker Hill' during the Revolution and 'Remember the Alamo' in the 1840's. It was 'Remember the Maine' during the Spanish American War and Flander's Fields during WW1. Maybe in the future this era will be known as the Terrorism War and 'Remember 9-11.'
All are part of our Nation's history and worth remembering for the significance of the day, but there comes a time when we need to lay these events aside and tender healthier, happier thoughts. The country was shocked when JFK was assassinated, I remember it well. Although recorded in the history books, that date has once again become just another day on the calender, as it should.
It's not about forgetting, but getting on with life.
