: I use an 18 horse Murray that I bought in 94 at the Home Depot. My Home Depot stopped carrying murray recently so I got a sleeve hitch, dirt plow, snow blade, and snow thrower for 75% off (under $400 for everything!). I also recently bought a 1970 Sears with a 10 hp Kohler at my local salvation army. I use that for cutting (it actually cuts cleaner), and the Murray for the other stuff since the deck is off. I plowed my garden with the Murray, but I can't yet vouch for it's durability. The engine seemed plenty strong. Traction was only a problem in really soft earth. : : I'm starting to tire of constantly fixing the old Bolens 1050, and my newer Bolens 3012H has a seized B&S twin-v. I only have about an acre+/- to mow, and don't really need attachments, even tho I have snow thrower/blade attachments for the 1050. It always seems though that I have on the wrong attachment vis-a-vis the type of snow to be moved! Chains keep coming off, etc. : : Anyway, if I decide to scrap the newer Bolens in favor of a brand new unit, which one do you folks out there consider the best for the money? My budget is limited to about $2K, and I'm looking for durability, reliability, strength, a great cutting deck and value, more or less in that order. So far I've been considering Simplicity and Honda, although the local Home Depot has those Murray for cheap. Are they good, or just relative throwaways? : : I do most of my own maintenance but spare time isn't so plentiful anymore. : : Thanks : I used a old JD 110 for 20 years, then Bought a Murray , now I wish I had my worn out JD back. I would rebuild it and
