Lanse, I (and I speak for those who care) believe you are coping with three elements of growth at the same time, and doing well. You are asking questions, and taking the answers seriously. You are discovering things that we all discovered (or were told so many times we thought we had discovered it) and you learn from those experiences. You are also willing to share with us, without editing, your side of things. In the face of some ridicule, you persist. Very encouraging. You are involved in machinery. That pursuit will serve you until you cannot talk any more at 120 years old. It is the single most important component of development that you can dive into. Reading, and math will provide leverage and knowledge to apply as needed to your future endeavors, but the mastery of machinery will fit it all together.
