You will want it to start not just now but when it's very cold. Sounds to me like you need a new battery and you'll need a DIESEL battery. I suggest buying the best Group 31 battery you can get for a cold-natured tractor like the Shibaura-built 2110. Last one I bought was 31HD-E I think. The starter switch should have a spring-loaded position for glow plug heating; probably turn counter-clockwise to heat them, then clockwise to crank the engine. No flammable vapors ever in the intake! Glow plug indicator may be a wire element inside a hole in the dash. That's supposed to give you an idea how hot the glow plugs are. As another post indicates, be sure to get an operators manual, read it from cover to cover and follow it religiously. Some of us who have spent our lives with tractors get hurt and die because we get careless, but people who think they'll be fine with a tractor because they can drive a car.......well, enough said.
