The Paint And Bodywork forum seems pretty dead these days so I thought I'd post this here, where everyone can see it.
I had never used an HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) spray gun before I bought one at Orscheln ($85). They only require about 25 PSI and put most of the paint on the workpiece instead of in the air. In fact, I can barely see any overspray in the air after using it extensively. Looking around the shop I don't see any overspray on other equipment or the floor either. So, I guess you don't need a paint booth.
The finish is going on nice, even and covering well. It is quick and easy to master. The documentation says you can shoot anything with it - Latex, Enamel, Lacquer, Urethane, Epoxy.
I doubt I'll ever shoot with a regular high pressure gun again. Tractor painters of the world, unite!
