First, take a look at the countryside there. Have you ever considered how long that land has been under the plow? A hell of a lot longer than anywhere Stateside and from what I can see.....the ground looks damned fine to me.
Secondly, our English/Welsh/Scottish cousins have machines I have never seen before....a power harrow? Wonder why we don't see them marketed here? Probably because you can't convince a bonehead that anything works but no till!
No till has it's place....but it isn't a panacea for all tillage requirements. Erosion is mainly a problem in the mid-west, where it is flat, windy and dry. Elsewhere it isn't nearly the consideration as it is in that region. The moldboard plow is a fine instrument and not to be discarded as a useless relic of the past or the uninformed. It is good to turn the soil over.
Also notice in the pictures David posts....they are always turning under a cover crop of some kind. That is how they protect the soil and....feed it. That is some of prettiest farm country I have ever seen (in pictures). I also like the use of front fenders..they don't have mud slung all over their tractor that way...or them if no cab is used. The front 3 point is something I like...but that front plow doesn't seem like such a great idea to me....too cumbersome.
