510 John Deere tractor lights

My John deere 510 came without lights.It has two six volt batteries.I purchased a couple of twelve volt lights to install.
Should I have 6 volt lights instead? or can the twelve volt lights be hooked up to work?
I am planning to use a twelve volt revolving light as well!Thanks in advance for any comments or solutions.
