I agree that the human species breeds in a way that worse then rabbits. Yet, we know better - and I suspect the rabbits don't.
That being said,it's obvious you never tried to adopt and know little about it. It's expensive and difficult - even if you try to do it through a state agency. Since you write as if you are interested and knowledgeble on the subject - I suppose you realize there is an Internet catalog of unwanted children - with all the U.S. states involved - putting all their current inventory in one easy shopping place. It's kind of a Sears catalog for "free" kids. All the states work together - and anybody can "order" a child. Actually getting one is whole different story. They'd much rather you become a full-time foster parent.
My wife and I tried to adopt one of these "needy" children through the state of New York after our own kids were grown and gone. We picked out a kid in North Carolina. Then we got involved in one of the most worst-run and intrusive government agencies I've ever encountered. We had to go through training on how the government says children should be raised - like they know something special. I suspect many of the people doing the training were perverts or deeply depressed themselves. Keep in mind - at the time I'd already raised four children to adulthood - all doing well -none in jail, and no ax murderers. None living on anti-depressants, either. After we "gradutated" by giving answers on tests that we knew were BS - we became qualified to adopt. At that point - we figured most of the kids available had already been ruined by the state government - and we baled out. Around this time - my best friends lost their only child - and eight year old daughter - died of chicken pox (yes, it still happens). They were excellent parents - and both skilled, educated, hard workers, no police records, etc. Well, they tried to adopt - first with the state and got half through the process and quit after being insulted - and disgusted by the state government. They then tried to adopt privately - since they have money - and again - found the process to be highly insulting - and extremely expensive with an array of "experts" along the way - all with their hands out for money. They finally gave up - and did not adopt. So, there you go - they lost their child and did not buy a new one. One less in our population.

Today's Featured Article - Persistence Pays Off - by Sam Grice. About a year ago I was driving down Hwy 36 south of Houston and I saw an old John Deere H sitting in a field with the planters and cultivators still on it. It appeared that it hadn't run in some time, but I stopped and went to the farm house and asked if the tractor was for sale. The lady of the house who answered the door offered no answer, but said that she would talk to her husband and have him call me. I figured he was away at the time. Well I heard from him the next day, and he procee
