Extreme northern IN here, we are about 1/2 done with our corn (900 total acres) and I am almost 1/3 done with the beans (800 total) and it seems that is the story with most the other local farmers too. Been raining every couple days so we only get 1 maybe two days of good cutting weather. Corn has been coming off at 15-18% which is drier than normal and the yield is running 160's with a usual average of 130's... all dryland. Beans have been running 55-60 with an average of 35! Looks to be a decent year if we get it all in. Nasty storm coming our way tonight. Oh, two days ago dad decided to take the combine swimming! Three large 2wd Case's moved it 2 foot forward and 4 foot down. Deciced to call buddy with excavator as it was raining then next morning... took about 1/2 hour to get out and to higher ground. Had the camera but couldn't take pictures due to the pouring rain (didn't want wife upset if camera got wet or dropped in muck) and I had to stand and communicate with both operators. Man does a Hitachi 160 have a lot of pull! Oh, I heard that some counties can't sell any corn due to the toxins is that true. Think it was over in IA. Just curious.
