This morning while eating breakfast at the local cafe with my son [wife has to go to work early leaving us to fend for ourselves]a friend of mine sets down with us and starts talking , Asks me what his dads old tractor is worth and he is wanting to sell it. He goes on to tell me that a gear in the transmission has a broken tooth on one of thr gears but he has the gear to fix it . Says he tore into the transmission about 10 years ago but that he will never fix it and wants to sell it. The tractor is in a shop at his house get this 3 miles from my house.I remember then having this tractor but thought they had gotten rid of it years ago . So after breakfast we went to look and see what he had.Said he thought my son and I might be interested in it since we have restored s few trsctors.When we got to his house he said the tractor was in the shop and to open the big door to get a better look that he had to make a nature call run. I opened up the big shop door and could not believe what we were looking at . My son almost ran over me to get to the serial # plate Inside sat a 330s John Deere serial #330457 still in working clothes,still with the cultivators attached. In a few minutes the owner came back out and I said is this the tractor .Yep it is and its for sale what will u give for it.I was so excited that i almost peed in my pants and my son was grinning from ear to ear for he knew that that tractor was going home with us .Told the owner that I did not price other peoples tractors but he must have a figure in mind .Ha said that he no longer wanted or needed the tractor and thought maybe I could restore it he would take 750.00 for it like it sat . Told him give me 15 minutes and let me go to the bank and would be back with the money that that tractor was sold. I almost fainted when he told me the priceand asked him 4 times was he sure he wanted to sell it for that. Said yes that he thought that I would maybe restore it and he would know where it was .Yes the tractor is home with me now,it just got moved to top of the list to be restored and no it is not for sale.My son and myself are still in shock about this and still cannot believe that we bought a 330s for 750.00.And yes this a true story
