I am thinking of telling the gas company to take their precious meter that they charge $15 a month for whether I use any gas or not and stick it in a " warm moist shady place". I am going to get a 500 gal or so propane tank as back up for the wood stove. I know I have to convert the furnace to propane. What is the going price for used tanks and for new ones? I doubt I would use half a tank a year most likley only a 1/4 tank, so I want to own a tank to avoid tank rent. Any suggestions or advise? I am in Indiana by the way.
