I remember giving $180 less than 2 years ago. I thought about getting some bottle calves but I was able to buy 290 lb Holstein steers @ $.58/lb. I think there might be some oppertunities for people in the PA/MD/NY area to make some money this winter. Buy thin cattle real cheap put some weight on them over the winter, then send them down to VA in the spring. Hay is in short supply around here, but not near as bad as further south. I havent risked my money on this idea yet, but I might when my one hay supplier tells me his price on his low quality hay he doesnt want to sell to his regular customers.
