Well from what i have learned over the years on the old gas start diesels is to let idle on the diesel side to cool as diesel engine will cool far better then on the gas side . As the gas side is to WARM the engine up . I have run the old I H diesels since back in the 60's in construction equipment and then on my owen 450 diesel , the old timers always told me to let idle till the temp gauge get's down into the cold area then shurt her off . Also never ever stall one when hot and not restart as fast as one can . Always make sure that the starting gas tank is always full when going to the field . You can crack a head real fast if you stall one when she is working and hot as what i mean here in the working range of the engine . When she stalls temp. goes up in the comb. chamber and this can crack the head. When i worked mine it would set and idle at 800-900 rpm for up to twenty min. to cool down . Did it work well that old 450 is still running to this day And the man that owens it now has run it the way i told him and other then a rebuild on the injection pump that is about it . I sold that tractor back in 73 and have tryed many times to buy it back even offered the man a 706 diesel even up , the answer i got ain't now way.

My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
