I buy, sell, and collect Ferguson and Massey Ferguson sales literature and manuals. I buy quite a few off of EBAY. Fortunately for me, Massey literarure isn't valueable enough (yet) to draw the counterfiet or copied manuals like some brands. I've talked at length with a Deere collector who photcopies manuals and sells them on EBAY, never really telling his buyers that his are fakes. 75% of his buyers don't know the difference. Another 20% don't care. The balance gives him bad feedback which he challenges. (After all, he never said they were ORIGINALS)
Not everyone, but a great many EBAY buyers are just like any auction buyers. They think because it's an auction, they'll get it cheap no matter how much the pay. (Can you follow that logic?) The thinking is, obviously if someone else just ran up my last bid, it's worth more. That's why EBAY is so popular with sellers.
Also consider that some collectors want original 1st printings. Many currently issued manuals are virtually the same as the originals, but they aren't QUITE the same. (Some are updated, some are printed on different paper stock, different ink color, ect)
But most likely, someone is letting themselves be had.
