The first and last year for the 383 was 1958 and 1971. It was replaced by the 400 and lasted until 1977. The first 440s were built in 1966 replacing the 413 and 426 and they also ended in 1977. There were a few engines available in early 1978, mainly in motorhomes. When they were first put in pickups I am not sure. The above dates are for engine production. The 350 was only built in 1957 and the 361 was dropped before the 383 I believe.
