By "up" and "down", I assume me mean "forward" and "reverse?"
If so, then you've lost hydraulic reverse - but forward was working - and disengaging - up to now - correct?
What you need to do is stick a pressure gauge into the reverser-control-valve. Put a 150 - 200 PSI gauge into it. Run the machine. Pressure should be 100-130 PSI. Push the clutch in - and it should go to zero. If it DOES go to zero - but the clutch does not engage - you've got internal damage in the reverser and it needs to be taken out and torn apart. If it does NOT go to zero - you've got linkage problems going to, or inside the control vavle and you can probably fix it without tearing the reverser apart.
