that sort of thing gives honest law abiding Canada a bad name
Sadly, our once revered and respected national police force has stumbled from disgrace to disgrace the last few years. Allegations of incompetence, corruption, pension fund fraud, human rights violations, substandard training, and terrible morale have many Canadians hanging their heads in shame when the subject of the RCMP comes up.
Thousands of front line officers are fine, fine folks, but the seemingly unending revelations about decades of rot at the top are incredible. Things got so bad for a while the force was stripped of its intelligence arm by the government and forbidden to do work in that area. Of course the new replacement intelligence organization CSIS and the RCMP then did little but squabble amongst themselves and refuse to collaborate or share vital info while terrorists and other scumbags roamed (and roam) free.
So, we're far from squeaky clean up here under all that white snow but maybe now that the past Commissioner is out on his a$$, the rebuilding can begin.
