Most small turbos use a cast iron sleeve between the two parts mentioned. As rust eats the sleeve and turbo housing up, it becomes loose. Some turbos use a cast iron ring on the sleeve like a piston ring. Later model Jonn Deeres use a sheet metal sleeve. The plain sleeve type uses the heat to expand the sleeve to create an effective seal which works quite well. Reccomend replacing sleeve before any damage is created. If on a budget, muffler sealer will work in some cases. Have used Bondo Muffler sealer with good results. Diesel Dan
