Commercial Farmers are their own worst enemy.Last year when corn prices went up what did they do? Went out and increased production.By increasing production it 1)brought more corn into the market place 2)Put out more demand for fertilizer, seed, equipment, land rents etc thus the price on inputs increased. Smart move would have been to DECREASE production by 10% the price for corn would have skyrocketed and price for inputs would have dropped because of less demand. Thus commercial farmers would have made much more $$$$ growing 10% less than increasing production.BUT they never learn this lesson and are doomed to a life of low returns caused by their own hand. Hard to feel sympathy for those that shoot themselves in the foot. And of course when the price drops after the election next year these corn growers will be left with payments on high price equipment, inputs and land. Its the late 70s all over again. Maybe Willie Nelson will sing a few songs about the bankruptcy sales like last time too
