I owned a 44 Massey for a few months . I also needed to remove the hubs to turn around and replace axle seals. I spent 12 hours yes 12 on the first one using heat and a puller mounted on the end of axle with 1 inch plate steel. Beating with a huge mallet and finally dropped the clutch outside with high pressure on it and it came. The next one I went and got a porta power and used the 1 inch plate as a backing against the trans. housing and came loose in about 15 minutes.
