Hey Roy Fusible links provide circuit protection before the fuse box in the passenger compartment, usually located in the engine compartment. If a wire shorts to ground before the fuse panel, the fusible link gets hot and burns up opening the circuit, this will protect the rest of the wiring from major damage. THE ARE NOT ALWAYS THE SAME SIZE AS THE WIRE THE PROTECT. Fusible links can be just a piece of wire with markings on it, other have a tab. Guido.
