tom my folk,s and grandparent,s were from the ukraine,south toward,s oddesa,few pepole no that in the late 1700,s and early 1800,s katiren the great was a german princess maried to the czar of russia wen he died she came to power and homesteaded 1000, and 1000,s of germans into that area they were called the volga german,s,not many left there anymore after all the war,s,have seen pictures of many 10-20 and 15-30,s working in russia back in the 20, and 30,s. my folk,s came in the early 1900,s and homesteaded in the dakota region ,many of them there yet today and the old world way,s still practiced some what.wen i left n.dakota in the mid 50,s we still had some horses we worked for haying and the M did all the other work.i suppose if that area in russia ever get,s going are prices will fall,case IH is building a new combine plant there right now.
