When i was in England, prior to going across the Channel, during WW II, i was amazed that the place stayed light until almost eleven o'clock, then just went dark, as if somebody pulled a big shade across the area! Until somebody explained it to me, i always thought it would be good for us in the States, so we'd have more time for outdoor work and play! And, of course, the sun came up earlier than here.
