have had similar encounters w/Fords... my guess is that you have a problem with the vent line that runs into the tank. If you take the rubber hose off of the steel filler neck, you should find a smaller vent line running inside the main filler line. If all that looks OK, there is also a vent on the top of the fuel tank... should have a line connected to it that runs to a point on the under side of the box. One way or the other, proper venting will solve the problem. HTH, D
