I would say you are right and that lever controls the pressure going to the outlets on the back of the tractor that work hydrolic cyliners on what ever you are pulling. That said, getting a manual and setting down and reading it would be a good idea. I don't think they have a "old tractors for dummies" yet but they need one. Many of the older tractors did not come with ( or they have worn off) warning stickers. Some one who has not been around many tractors does not need to start move'n levers just to see what happens. Even with the tractor turned off some have a lever that when moved is just like pushing in the clutch and could send you on a down hill ride. Factory manuals normaly have good picturs and explantions of stuff. When many of these old tractors were made many farmers had been walking around smelling mule farts all thier life and a tractor was a totaly new thing for them. Good luck. If you will tell us what your tractor is, some one on here will tell you what ever knob, lever, and stick does, but no joke a book could be a life saver.
