In my area hay is high as heck. First cutting was about 30% to 40% less then normal, and very very few folks got a second cutting.
Rolls of hay doesnt matter whether they are 4x4 or 6x6 starting price is $45 to $50 per roll and goes higher. Square bales good luck finding any less then 6.50 a bale. If you want it delivered then its even higher. This for all types and mixes of hay. Now you can find Trash hay for less.
Talked to a guy last week who sold 100 5x5 rolls of orchard grass that had been kept outside for 3 years for $45/roll.
I just sold 50 barn kept 4x4 rolls of orchard grass and timothy hay for $55 to one of the local horse folks.
There was a big add in the local paper back in December with local horse folks complaining about the outrages prices of hay. One guy who was interviewd said it was highway robbery and there was no sense in farmers charging such ridiculous prices for hay.
