I also remember back when we were threshing, and Dad had the machine and did custom threshing, Mom and I would do chores, with Mom milking 16-18 cows and she would milk them out in the yard because it was to hot to put them in stalls, set the buckets of milk in the feed bunk and my job was to watch that they(buckets) did not get knocked over by the other cows. Dad would get home about sun down, after greasing and preparing the machine for the next day. Then he would finish up separating the milk and feeding the fat cattle by hand with a bushel basket(some 30 head)and the 500 lb calves. Mom would go in and start or finish supper. I dont know how Mom or Dad did it all. They both made it to 90 years of age. Bless Mom and Dad.
