Bill: The 504 will easily handle the 8' disk. It will pick the disk up well, but you will have to exercise caution when turning quickly. I assume this is a tandem disk, and the main problem with mounted disks there is a lot of weight quite far from rear tractor axle.
Years ago, I pulled an 8' trailer disk with Farmall 300, no real problems pulling it, but I don't think I would have liked it if it had been mounted. I'm into the same thing today with my 130 and 140, most of my implements are 5' to 6' mounted, and the one I have to use caution with is my 5.5' tandem disk. I have 2 - 6' cultivators and a 7' rotary hoe, 40 gallon sprayer, 500lb. fertilizer spreader and two bottom plow. I often wish that disk were trailer with a remote cylinder.
I went from that 8' trailer behind the 300 to close to 11' behind 560 and 656 in the 60s and a 22' behind the 1066 in the 70s. I don't think I would have liked any of them mounted.
