Scottie, With $10k to spend, I would move up to the higher end in your HP range. Too little hp is worse that too much. If you are mechanically competent go for a good used tractor. This way you will have funds for implements. A previous post gives good insight on a Massey. Additionally, I would suggest a comparable Ford (3900 series or larger) or IH(574 or 584). If the maintenance and repairs are intimidating then go for a tractor with a warranty.Due to the budget you will have to drop back in horsepower. With this reduction in hp there will be an accommodating reduction in what work can be accomplished. List each task that the tractor will be used for and verify that the prospective tractor can fullfill that need. Good luck
