Its a well known fact that wrecker drivers pull out more 4x4 vehicles than they do cars. 4 wheel drive is great for acceleration, that is it. It will not hold you on the road at highway speeds (most try to run 70 when its snowing like mad), and it doesn't stop you better than a 2 wheel drive. The other thing that most of these nutty people don't think of, the modern day SUV has a higher center of gravity, they flip alot easier than cars and lower profile vehicles. One wrecker driver told me to tell people run in 2 wheel drive, when you get stuck in the ditch, put it in 4 wheel and hope like he11 you get out.
