I ran a trapline for several years and probably got caught in every type I used from size 0 to #3's for beaver. Never lost any fingers, etc. You can't compare our fingers to an animal's foot. I'm not saying there may not be some discomfort, but I know guys who have found caught fox asleep when checking traps. Look at turkeys that spend the entire day standing in snow or ducks all night sitting on open water around frozen ponds. We can't do that. Animals are made different.
