I worked on these tractors for many years. They are built in Minsk in the Republic of Belarus which was formerly part of the U.S.S.R. exepting the smaller air cooled tractors which are Russian, they were exported by Tractorexport in Moscow. The early Minsk built tractors were a copy of the American Farmall tractor and it has been updated, but by western standards they are still very out dated. Apart from oil leaks they were reasonably reliable, but the build quality nose dived around 1993/1994 and they became real pigs. Because of their low technology they are easy to work on, but be prepaired for regular repairs. In England where I worked on them parts were very cheap untill you wanted somthing electrical then they were very expensive. The thing was, a farmer could by a new 70hp 4WD Belarus for the same money as a clapped out 20 year old Ford or M.F. 2WD, after he had it for 5 years it was still worth about 1,000 pounds from a purchase price new of 5,000, which although the % depreciation was high, the actual value lost was less than a new western built tractor lost in it"s first year, so ownership was cheap. It is your money, and you do with it what you wish, but I would not want to own one.
