I'd put a new fan belt on and drive it. Whats done inside is done. All depends on how hot things got. I'd keep a close eye on the oil and the water, looking for either one in the other.
I just went through this on my truck, kind of. In my case my injectors were fouled out and dribbling fuel rather than spraying. This advanced the engine timing and got the head hot face even though the temp gage never got above normal. In my case the symptom was oil in the water but no water in the oil (pointing to head or head gasket rather than block. My head gasket was ok but it was blowing under the gasket where the head was warped. Cummins reman head and upper gasket set was between 1100 and 1200, 6 new +40 hp injectors another 600.00. The guy who helped me charged me 175.00 to change the heads. All total right at 2000 by the time I flushed the radiator and changed the oil.
