It would seem you're not getting the cover back on correctly and one of the shifting forks isn't engaging the sliding gear it's supposed to. What gears do shift in correctly? 3rd is 1st overdrive on your B...4th is 2nd overdrive...do you have 4th...do you have 1st, etc. to isolate which gear (1st or overdrive) isn't shifting and follow up to find the gear that isn't sliding and then figure out why.
