My wife and I spent a week in Peoria during the summer of '03, but it was not a pleasant time. We had been driving through the night from PA to get to my grandmother's funeral in Davenport, IA.
Made it as far as mile marker 6 on I-80 (i.e. within ~20 miles of our destination). I knew I was getting tired and intended to stop at the information center at the state line. Did not make it, fell asleep and pinballed between the guard rails lining both sides of the road. I was only bruised and sore, but wife broke 3 vertebra and several ribs along with a few other things. They ended up transporting us back to Peoria from the initial ER in Colona. I don't think I ever left the hospital all week until we left.
They are still nice pictures, just got me started on a bad memory.
